IT
From BenningtonWiki
Is your computer on fire? Do you not know what a ethernet switch is? Do your bits byte?
Coming Soon
- The IT committee is working with the Computer Center(s) to solidify a open FAQ to assist students with common/allready encountered problems, especially after-hours.
- We're looking for House Nerds, IE people who know their shit when it comes to computers. This will be coming soon, and expect to nominate one member of your house.
I am working at the Help Desk over FWT, and while I am here I'm making some materials to help people in the labs. A couple things I am doing:
- Signs displaying what is available in each wing of the Computer Center (Advanced Lab and Main Lab), which includes the basic software on each station, along with additional software available on special stations.
- Individual signs at each lab station, detailing the computer's name and available software.
- We will now have reference manuals available for use in the labs that you can get from the Help Desk.
- The Help Desk monitors will have a handbook as quick reference for common questions, info on each station, etc.
- I am working on designing a website for the Computer Center (hopefully to be launched in the spring), which can be linked to from the College website.
If anyone has any further suggestions for the Computer Center (or would like to implement any of these things in the other labs on campus) I would love to hear from you and can work on materials during the winter. - AngelaSheehan 11:55, 16 January 2007 (EST) (asheehan@bennington.edu)
