Contacts
From BenningtonWiki
We have set up this page especially for prospective students who may want to contact a current or former student with interests similar to their own, and for those graduating who are looking for advice from others. These students have agreed to be on this page, but please check FAQs first--many people are busy studying hard!
Remember that August 2006 is the last paper and pencil MCAT (you will be taking the new computerized exam) so these people will not be the best people to ask for advice about the test. See the link page for MCAT info.

I came to Bennington straight out of undergrad at Washington U in St. Louis. I lived on-campus for the summer and in North Benn. during the year. I am an Ohio resident. I started out pre-med at Wash U and dropped out after taking 2 classes to major in International Studies and Medical Anthropology. I have done clinical research in breast cancer and field research in Peru in the same area and in complementary and alternative medicine. After Bennington I took the MCATs in August then worked/travelled/did applications. I am now in my first year at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. More than happy to answer any questions. I am also editing this wiki page, please send me any info or questions to post.

I'm kind of a poster child for "non-traditional" students; I completed my undergrad degree in 1998, and that was 10 years after graduating high school. I worked in various corporate jobs before and after my undergrad, and switched gears into healthcare later. I started out volunteering in the Emergency Department at Hennepin County Medical Center, [1] (which is busy, urban, academic, and crazy), and after earning EMT-Basic certification, I was hired part-time as an ED Tech. Over my FWT, I came back home to help out with several of our ongoing research projects, and post-Post-Bacc, I worked full-time in the ED until PA school started. To the best of my knowledge, I'm the Bennington Post-Bacc's first pre-PA. I'm in the Class of 2009 at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science[2] (formerly Finch; aka "the university that houses the Chicago Medical School"). I'm open to any questions, especially those about going to Bennington as an "old" guy, about Emergency Medicine or research, or about how completely awesome it is not to ever have to worry about the Match.

I am a Maryland resident and was a Philosophy major at Wash U (’04) with a minor in Legal Studies. Eleanor and I are part of the WU legacy at Bennington. I had entered WU as a physics major and took several “pre-med” courses prior to switching to Philosophy. I spent my first year out of college as a paralegal in an immigration law firm until I decided to pursue medicine. If you have questions about entering a post-bacc with several pre-med courses under your belt, please feel free to contact me. While at Bennington, I took a few electives and was a member of the health committee. Contact Dr. Randy Anselmo if you are interested. I took a Kaplan MCAT course my Spring semester in Troy with the intention of taking the April MCAT. I took the August one instead. Both my parents are physicians, so if you have questions about how that might affect your medical school application, either Eleanor or I could be resources. After Bennington I did Lupus research at UCLA on a summer student grant and could speak to my research experience over field work term and while studying for the MCAT. I am currently a first year at NYU. I lived in North Bennington during my post-bacc year.

- Dave Schmidt: phlufhead@aol.com
Dave Schmidt was raised by elk in Montana. He is for bovine liberation yet against aviary independence. He is one of the world's leading experts on the War of 1812 and is generally regarded as an unofficial authority on Shackleton's Antarctic Expedition. He enjoys listening to Neil Diamond at an unreasonable volume and singing the lyric poetry of Ancient Greece to the songs of Air Supply. He is a pisces.
- Lewis "The White Carlton" Britton
Lewis Britton loves smooth music. Ask him for the "hot mix". It's sooo smooth it should be called the "ultra-hot mix" or even the "smooth mix".
