Prototopia | Research Primers
During the first six weeks of the term (three weeks each topic) we will spend time researching specific tools and making small prototypes with them. This time is both pragmatic (research/learn about new tools/tech that might be incorporated into your final projects) and also about the process of research, prototyping (make something to test your ideas/knowledge), feed back and revision.
- Week 1: Research + Braindump
- Week 2: Make/prototype something and receive feedback
- Week 3: Share work
1. Motoring (First 3 weeks)
Find everything you can about motors--types, usage, suppliers, power req's. (AC/DC,) using alone, using with microcontroller, H bridges etc. Be sure to include artists who have used motors in their work.
Post it all here: Motors
Make something small scale using a motor or motors.
2. You've got the power! (Second 3 weeks)
Find everything you can about alternate power--solor, energy harvesting cranks, wind, suppliers, etc. that might be appropriate for powering small scale projects. Be sure to include artists who have used alternate power sources.
Post it all here: Alternate Power
Make something small that runs off an alternate power source.
