The article presents a British teacher's suggestion for teaching science using household waste. The author describes an activity she uses with primary-school students, for which students reach blindly into a bag, locate and object, and describe it to others. From this she proceeds to add exploratory discussion, vocabulary building, and a discussion on recycling. She provides curriculum objectives for the activity and explains various student roles related to ability.
